Two Semesters of Marketing Research Analytics Program Gets you into the Field
Did you know that graduates of
Centennial College’s Marketing Research Analytics program go on to enjoy
a variety of careers in positions that include: marketing research
analyst, web marketing analyst, CRM analyst, direct response analyst,
online marketing analyst, data and analytics specialist, business
analytics specialist, loyalty program analyst, sales data analyst,
marketing strategy analyst? In addition to these various career areas,
attending the marketing research courses also allows students to work in
the following areas: organizations with in-house analytical and
research functions, especially those that are mid-to-large sized;
marketing research firms; companies specializing in direct marketing,
mobile marketing and e-marketing as well as loyalty program management
companies. Marketers rely on analysts for their insight, to make
effective decisions, to attract a greater client base and deepen
existing client relationships.
To apply for the Graduate
Certificate program that offers them access to this wide range of
careers, applicants must have a college diploma or university degree in
any discipline. In addition, proof of English proficiency and an
assessment of numeracy skills may be requested. Please note that the
Marketing Research Analytics program will also consider applicants with
partial post-secondary and relevant work experience (transcript and
resume review is required).
Once they have applied and are
accepted, students will take two years to learn the skills needed to
analyze and interpret industry trends and client behaviour. This is
achieved through a hands-on focus in areas like questionnaire design,
data manipulation, quality control, creation of statistical output and
development of programs. The practical training includes SAS Enterprise
Guide and Enterpise Miner. In addition, emphasis is placed on the use of
applied marketing research and analytics to strategic marketing
decision-making. Lastly, a second semester capstone project allows
students to incorporate and showcase their skills.
Specific marketing research course
in the Marketing Research Analytics program include: Business
Presentations (intended to provide a solid grounding in the important
business communication area. Students are taught to demonstrate
communication skills in letter and memo writing, produce high quality
reports, execute confident oral presentations, effectively communicate
in interview situations and use current software as tools in the
implementation of effective presentations); Marketing (provides an
overview of contemporary marketing, emphasizing the management of the
product/service, price, promotion and distribution areas of an
organization within a changing environment); and others such as Case
Analysis and Marketing Metrics, Computer Applications for Marketing
Analytics, Database Mining and Analytics, Advanced Marketing Research,
and Fundamentals of Interactive Marketing.
Teaching techniques
used in the Marketing Research Analytics program include: case studies,
simulations and project-based learning. Professors with extensive
experience in marketing research, statistics, marketing communications
and customer relationship management teach all of the marketing research
courses.
