Train for a Career Without Borders in Global Business Management

August 4, 2014

Does your interest in the business world lie in management? Do you hope to launch a career that may take you around the world? Have you thought about working with international organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and domestic businesses operating on a global scale? Have you already completed a three-year college diploma or university degree in any discipline, or have a two-year college diploma or a partial university degree (75 percent complete) with a minimum of two years work experience relevant to global management? Can you provide proof of English proficiency?

If you answered “yes” to these questions, Centennial College may have the program for you in its Global Business Management undertaking. The premise behind this offering is that borders don’t define today’s business world and professionals are needed to ensure an organization’s ongoing success in a globalized environment. These professionals must have know-how of leading-edge management strategies and international business practices — which they learn in two years at Centennial College.

A Business management Canada-based strategic management perspective serves as a base while international concepts prepare graduates to lead and manage effectively in the global business environment. Among the specific topics that are presented in the offering are: International Entrepreneurship, Information Systems for Business Management, Financial Management, Global Logistics, Global Business Research and Analysis, Ethics and Stakeholder Management, Fundamentals of Project Management, Corporate Social Responsibility and International Development, International Sales and Negotiation.

These topics are not only presented through lectures by instructors who have a wide rage of diverse experience. The Global Business Management courses all have an element of practicality that sees students apply what they learn to hands-on activities such as case analysis and presentations of research reports as well as a final semester Capstone Project. This element challenges students to apply what they’ve learned by completing an integrated team project for a business client within the Greater Toronto Area. Another classroom aspect that adds a unique element is the inclusion of guest speakers with whom students can network. Centennial College’s offering also sees students compete in external competitions and partake in industry visits that show them the skills they have been learning in action.

One of the most beneficial aspects for international students is that those who successfully complete Centennial’s Global Business Management program may be eligible to apply for a work permit (up to three years) upon graduation.

With the continuous elimination of business borders, graduates of this program can rest assured that they will enjoy strong employment prospects after graduation, whether their ultimate goal is to work in Toronto, across Canada or around the world.
