Program Details

The one-year post-secondary chef training course covers a wide range of subjects, including sanitation, hygiene and safety, business communications, principles and practices of nutrition for culinarians, culinary skills – foundation and development, bakeshop principles and practices, food theory for culinarians, garde manger and butchery, principles of food, beverage and labour cost controls, kitchen and dining room practices and cuisine and culture. In addition, a strong emphasis is placed on numeracy and computers for culinarians.

Academic Prerequisites

In order to apply for a chef training program, the applicants are required to submit an application along with a copy of secondary school diploma certificate and scores in English Grade 12 C or University or equivalent. Applicants not meeting this criterion must complete the English skills assessment for admission conducted by the college.

Students currently appearing in high school are also eligible to apply for this program. Their midterm and final term scores will be automatically transmitted to the college.
